How customers opt in at our kiosk
Customers checking in at the self-service kiosk in our front office are shown the screen below. It is where they may choose to receive text messages about their own scale ticket.
What is your mobile number?
The kiosk check-in screen. The consent checkbox is shown unchecked, as it always appears.
What this screen does
The customer enters their mobile number, which is how we identify their account. Beneath it is a consent checkbox. It reads, exactly:
- The box is never pre-checked. The customer must tap it to opt in.
- Consent is not required to check in. Leaving the box untouched and tapping Continue completes check-in normally, with no message ever sent.
- Consent is not a condition of purchase or of any service we provide.
- When the box is tapped, we store the phone number, the exact wording shown above, the version of that wording, and the date and time — against that customer's record, so that proof of consent can be produced on request.
- The Terms and Privacy Policy are reachable from the screen itself, not only afterwards.
Messages sent as a result are only about that customer's own scale ticket, plus yard hours and firewood rates when the customer asks for them. We do not send marketing text messages.
The other way to opt in
Customers may also start a conversation by texting us directly. That call-to-action, with the same disclosures, is published at sms.sunmtnlumber.com/text-us.html.
Status. The kiosk is in final testing and will be in service at our Livingston front office. The screen above is the check-in screen as built. Our Deer Lodge yard follows afterward.
